The Murray family has been in the “horse bidness” since
“who flung the chunk”. As a young man in the early 1900’s, Henry Murray drove
horses from Greeneville, Texas to San Antonio, Texas where he traded the stock
for mules. He and his cohorts then drove the mules to Ft. Worth where they were
sold to freighters. Henry always was ready for “the trade”. In his business of
preparing, treating and delivering handles for all types of hand tools, he
traveled all over the 4 States (Texas, Ark, Ok, La) area on a regular basis and
therefore was always on the lookout for “the deal”.
Sometime in the 1950’s, Henry took a liking to Tennessee Walking Horses
and thus began a long history of showing Walking Horses around the country. My
father, Herb Murray, was always involved in Henry’s handle business and his
horse business. This was equally true of the show-horse circuit. Even though he
is, by trade, a civil engineer, he's always loved the horse. In the early
1970’s, Dad got in the cattle business and although he continued to own Walking
Horses and keep a colt or two with the trainers (and still does today), his
interests shifted to “usin’ horses” as we always called them growing up. They
were a necessity on the ranch where Dad raised registered Brangus cattle.
Today, although the Brangus have been largely dispersed (after 30
distinguished years as a seedstock producer), Dad still enjoys the usin’ horses.
He’s taken foundation bred mares and crossed them to some of the top NRCHA
producing stallions as well as cutting bred stallions, kept a few here and there
to use himself, and tried to always keep in view the end product........which is
an all around performance horse.
That genetic seems to have passed on to my family. You’ll see a significant
number of Dad’s mares and their offspring on this website. We’ll identify them
accordingly, however, we’ve taken the same approach in beginning to establish
our own program. We’re very attracted to the cutting horse industry as you’ll
see in our mares and breeding program but we are perhaps just as excited about
the cowhorse competitions and we have future plans to move into reiners as well!
We’ll share more history and try to share our vision in the ensuing
pages. Welcome to our “Web-Home”. We hope you’ll feel comfortable here. Take
your shoes off and sling your leg up over end of the sofa and enjoy your stay.

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the LORD with all thy heart, And lean not upon thine own understanding:
In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he will direct thy paths.
